Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: September 20, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") explains what is not allowed on Skillbase, how we detect violations, what happens when one is found, and how you can appeal. It is part of our Terms of Service (see Section 5, Acceptable Use) and should be read with our Privacy Policy. Skillbase is a platform for gaming communities, and most communities will never see anything described here.
1. What We Review
We review public content and messages sent on behalf of an Organization: the text of announcements, giveaways, forms, Organization profiles, Community Hub listings, and published sites. We do this to keep the platform safe for the communities on it and for the people who receive their messages.
We do not send private material to automated review: support tickets and their conversations, internal notes, private documents, roster data, and member information are out of scope. Automated review is text-only today, so images are not reviewed automatically; they are handled through reports and staff review.
Content that only exists inside Discord and never passes through Skillbase is governed by Discord's own rules, not by this Policy.
2. What Is Not Allowed
You may not use Skillbase to publish or send:
- Adult content — pornography or sexually explicit material, including links to adult sites or sexual services.
- Gambling — real-money casinos, betting, or gambling promotion.
- Hate — racism, incitement to hatred, or extremist propaganda.
- Scams and fraud — fake giveaways, phishing, impersonation, investment or crypto scams, or anything that harvests credentials or payment details.
- Bulk spam — unsolicited mass promotion or invite farming.
- Illegal goods — illegal drugs, weapons, or stolen accounts or data.
- Harassment — threats, targeted abuse, or doxxing.
- Content that endangers minors — any sexualization of minors or grooming. This is treated as the most serious category.
In-game and fictional activity is not a violation: an in-game casino in a roleplay server, loot boxes, game violence ("raid", "wipe"), and clearly described giveaways with verifiable rules are fine. Content in English, Spanish, or a mix of both is reviewed the same way.
Content that suggests someone may be in crisis is never punished. We flag it for our team so that we can respond with care.
3. How We Detect Violations
Detection combines an automated model with people. The model estimates how likely a piece of text is to break a rule; it does not decide on its own what happens to you. Automated systems make mistakes, which is why every step below has a person, an explanation, and an appeal.
- Most findings open a case that a member of our team reviews before any strike is issued.
- Findings the system is very confident about, in the ordinary categories, may result in a strike issued automatically. You are told, you can appeal, and a person reviews the appeal.
- Content in the most serious category (safety of minors) is never struck automatically. It is set aside and reviewed by a person.
- Content that existed before this Policy was published is not punished. If a review finds a problem in it, you receive a warning and time to fix it, not a strike.
4. Strikes
A strike is a record against your Organization that a rule was broken. Each strike tells you the rule, the content involved, the reason, how many strikes you currently have, and the date until which you can appeal.
- A strike counts for a limited time and then expires on its own. Currently a strike counts for 90 days.
- Content connected to a strike may be taken offline (for example a form, a Community Hub listing, or a site is switched back to private or draft). It is restored if the strike is overturned or expires, or when our team restores it.
- Strikes are visible to the Organization's owner and co-owners in Settings → Trust & Safety, and the owner and co-owners are notified in the product and, where possible, on Discord.
5. Suspension
When an Organization reaches the strike threshold (currently 3 active strikes), it is scheduled for suspension after a notice period (currently 72 hours). During that time:
- You are told the date.
- An open appeal pauses the suspension until it is decided.
- The suspension is cancelled if your active strikes drop below the threshold, for example because a strike is overturned or expires.
- A member of our team confirms the suspension before it takes effect, unless we tell you otherwise.
A suspended Organization cannot be used, but its data is kept, and its paid subscription is paused, not cancelled. You can contact support from the suspension page to appeal. The numbers above are our current settings and may change; a change applies to future strikes and suspensions.
6. Appeals
The owner or a co-owner of an Organization can appeal any strike from Settings → Trust & Safety by explaining why it is a mistake. The appeal opens a conversation with our team through Support.
- We aim for a member of our team who was not involved in issuing the strike to review it. Where that is not possible, we record it.
- You can appeal within the window shown on the strike (currently 14 days). Later appeals are accepted at our discretion.
- You will be told the decision and the reason. If the strike is overturned it stops counting, and any content held for it is restored.
- You can withdraw an appeal at any time.
7. Reporting and Contact
If you see content on Skillbase that breaks this Policy, tell us at support@skillbase.gg with a link and a short description. For questions about a strike or a suspension, use the appeal option or Support so that we can see the whole history.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy as the platform and the law evolve. We will update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, give reasonable notice. Changes apply to content created or edited after they take effect.
